What to Wear to my Pregnancy Photoshoot & What to Expect

Pregnancy is truly a special time. Wanting to capture it perfectly is totally understandable. With my short guide, there is no need to stress about what to wear to your maternity photo session. Follow the tips below to create the most personal and beautiful photos for this very special time in your life.

  1. MATERNITY MASTERPIECES & DRAPES

‘Maternity Masterpieces’ as well as ‘Fabrics & Drapes’ portraits are created with flowing silks. You do not need to bring those with you as I already have a lovely selection of materials in many colours to ensure there is something of all skin tones.

Sheer, lace robes are also perfect for that soft romantic look. They show off your baby bump but also help hide any unflattering areas. I have a couple in my studio or feel free to bring your own to personalise your pregnancy photography session.

 2. BARE YOUR BUMP

If you’d like to show off your bare bump, I recommend wearing a crop top, a kimono style gown or a large shirt with buttons undone to show off the shape of your growing bump. You can compliment this look with underwear in matching colour or a pair of your pre-pregnancy jeans.

3. BODY HUGGING CLOTING IN SOLID COLOURS

I recommend solid colours as this helps your bump stand out the most. Simple solid colour brings the attention to your beautiful baby bump and helps to capture beautiful maternity photos.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR PREGNANCY PHOTOSHOOT?

Portrait photography is an indulgence and you can push the boundaries and be as theatrical as you wish.

I am here to bring out your inner goddess in you and create that most unique of maternity portraits just for you.

So how do I get there?

One thing I am never lacking is enthusiasm!!! I often think of new ideas first thing in the morning. Then again by around 11am. Come lunchtime I am already tweaking the possibilities in my mind, Then just before going to bed I might just have one more last thought or do a last minute shop for some more tops and dresses for you to use in your session. Wardrobe wise, most items are in sizes from 8 to 16 and some outfits are one size fits all. There should be something for all tastes with emphasis on elegant and timeless clothing to compliment and accentuate your pregnant shape.

Of course the key to creating great portrait photography is understanding portrait lighting and making sure you are enjoying yourself. During your pregnancy photoshoot you will find me gliding effortlessly around my studio, forever changing the lightning set-up. Each totally different for the distinctive styles of maternity portraits I capture. I am a creative soul and often on the spur of a moment will decide to try out a new and creative idea during your pregnancy photoshoot . The benefit to you is leaving my creative space, or simply known as, The Studio with a unique and individual maternity portrait.
