What Makes My Maternity Photography Different

Your pregnancy portraits should feel as individual as this chapter of your life. With over 20 years of experience photographing expectant mums, I’ve perfected an approach that blends beautiful studio lighting with a real understanding of how to pose and flatter the body at every stage of pregnancy, ensuring you look and feel incredible.

I have had the privilege of photographing so many women during this remarkable time, and many return to my West London studio for their second and third pregnancies, a trust I never take for granted.

When Is the Best Time for a Maternity Photoshoot?

The ideal time for your maternity photoshoot is usually between 28 and 34 weeks, when your bump is beautifully defined but you are generally still comfortable enough to enjoy the session. Every pregnancy is different, so this is only a guide. If you are already further along, please don’t assume you have missed your chance. I regularly accommodate last-minute maternity sessions at short notice whenever studio availability allows.

Think contemporary maternity portraits in your favourite outfits, elegant fine-art pregnancy nudes and beautiful photographs with your partner and children. Every session is thoughtfully planned, styled and creatively directed around you.

You certainly don’t need to invest in an extensive maternity wardrobe for your London maternity photoshoot. Draped fabrics are a wonderfully elegant way to celebrate your pregnant shape, creating maternity portraits that feel soft, sculptural and timeless. You’ll also have access to my carefully curated studio wardrobe, including classic Jermyn Street oversize white shirts, sheer fabrics and modern minimalist pieces, all chosen to photograph beautifully and help you feel confident, comfortable and effortlessly polished.

Never been professionally photographed before? Don't worry as most of my clients haven't either. I will guide you through every pose and expression, so all you need to do is relax and enjoy the experience. Your final collection will feel personal, varied and completely, unmistakably you.

I have photographed more than 1,500 studio maternity sessions during my career, with many clients returning to document their second and third pregnancies. With more than 20 years’ professional photography experience, I was also named runner-up for UK Maternity Photographer of the Year at the 2016 Newborn Photography Show.

About Your Maternity Photographer

I’m Nemi Miller, a London maternity photographer with more than 20 years’ experience creating elegant, artistic studio portraits.

This is my self-portrait I created during my own pregnancy, long before maternity photography became widely available. Taking that photograph gave me a personal understanding of how it feels to be pregnant in front of the camera and how much these images can come to mean over time.

That experience still shapes the way I photograph every client, with sensitivity, thoughtful guidance and a genuine appreciation of the body carrying new life.

Please note that all newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home.

Enjoy Your Fully Guided Photoshoot

This is where creativity takes over. Expect a relaxed, fully guided two hour (time will go fast) pregnancy photoshoot in a beautiful West London photography studio. I'll be right there with gentle prompts and direction the whole way through. My goal? To help you see your pregnant shape in a way you perhaps never have before, and fall in love with it.

Within a week of your session, your images will be ready to view and select. We'll hop on a Teams call together, where I'll share my screen and walk you through every portrait using a specialist programme that makes picking favourites easy. Most clients tell me this is one of the best parts of the whole experience: seeing their portraits for the first time and often being amazed by how beautiful they look.

I'm with you every step of the way to help you choose, talk through retouching, and explore frames, albums, or folio boxes for your favourites. You'll have around sixty beautifully crafted maternity portraits to pick from.

Your Private Pregnancy Photography Studio in West London

My spacious private studio is at 20 Canham Road, London W3 7SR, on the borders of Chiswick, Acton and Shepherd’s Bush. It offers a calm, private setting with a separate changing room, comfortable seating and plenty of space for your partner and children to join you.

Sessions are available during the week and at weekends, and full directions and arrival information will be sent before your appointment.

Book Maternity and Newborn Photography

Maternity clients who return for newborn photography receive £400 off their newborn collection. This reduces the weekday price from £2,400 to £2,000, or the weekend price from £2,800 to £2,400.

Your at-home newborn collection includes 20 professionally retouched, high-resolution digital images and a professionally designed 12 × 10-inch hardback photobook. Sessions are relaxed, baby-led and unhurried, with parents, siblings and pets welcome to be photographed too.

Frequently Asked Questions About Your Maternity Photoshoot

When should I book my maternity session?

I recommend booking during your second trimester, with the photoshoot usually taking place between 28 and 34 weeks. However, every pregnancy is different, and I also offer last-minute sessions at short notice whenever my availability allows.

Most of my clients feel nervous at first. Your session is relaxed and fully guided, and I’ll help you with every pose so you never need to know what to do in front of the camera.

I’m nervous about being photographed. What if I don’t feel confident?

What should I wear, and do you provide a client wardrobe?

I’ll help you plan what to wear before your session. You’ll also have access to my carefully selected studio wardrobe, including white shirts, sheer fabrics, bodysuits and simple, flattering pieces.

Can my partner or other children be in the photographs?

Yes. Partners, children and even family dogs are very welcome, with no additional charge.

Maternity photography collections begin at £750 and include your fully guided studio session and five professionally retouched digital portraits. Larger image collections are available after your viewing.

We’ll meet via Microsoft Teams, where I’ll share my screen and group similar images together to make comparing them and choosing your favourites easier. This can take place as soon as 24 hours after your session.
