If you’ve ever wondered what really happens during a maternity photoshoot, this behind the scenes look offers a genuine insight into how I work as a specialist maternity and newborn photographer in West London.
This video was filmed in my very first photography studio in Ealing a space that marked the beginning of my journey. Since then, my business has grown across multiple studios in West London, including West Ealing and Richmond, and I am now proud to be working from my fourth and most exciting studio yet.
A Journey Through My West London Studios
From my early days in Ealing to my current studio located on the borders of Chiswick, Acton, and Ealing, each space has shaped how I photograph and connect with families.
My newest studio is a beautifully designed warehouse space with nearly 6 metre high ceilings, creating an open, calming environment. With pitched ceilings, skylights, and an abundance of natural light, it offers the perfect setting for timeless maternity, newborn, and family photography. The rustic, industrial charm adds depth and character to every image.
A Real Maternity Photoshoot Experience
The session featured in this video was for a lovely mum-to-be expecting her second child. One of the highlights was seeing the excitement of the soon-to-be big sister, it brought such natural emotion and warmth to the shoot.
My approach is always relaxed and guided rather than posed. I gently direct families to create natural, authentic moments no stiff or awkward posing. This allows me to capture genuine expressions and meaningful connections.
Creating a Relaxed Studio Environment for Children
When children arrive at the studio, my priority is making them feel comfortable and at ease. Every child is different, so I allow plenty of time for them to explore the space and settle in.
Before long, they’re laughing, playing, and naturally engaging with the camera.
To help with this, my studio is filled with thoughtful touches:

Stickers (always a favourite!)
Of course, many toddlers are most interested in the camera itself - something that has definitely sharpened my reflexes over the years!
